Some People Do Not Want the Responsibility of Owning a Home

I understand your point of view. If something breaks, you must fix it. If you do not fix it, you must hire someone who will. If it is not fixed, you must live with it. All of this takes time and worry. Enough, already! Your doubts are depressing me.

Sure, home ownership requires responsibility, but it also gives you autonomy. If something breaks, you handle it. You do not need to nag the landlord. You get to decide how to fix it. Do you go to the hardware store, call a friend, or hire a professional? It is your choice. Speaking of choice, you decide how to decorate, which appliances to improve, and whether or not you want to build an addition. These choices are like the difference between being a child and being an adult. It is pure emancipation.
